What a blessing 2016 has been and to end it with Emily and Nate’s wedding was absolutely perfect! Emily and Nate have a truly radiant love for one another and the word “joyful” is the best way to describe them, which is perfectly themed for their Christmas wedding! When Emily first told me the details of her wedding, she was so full of light and happiness! As we ran into the venue to warm up after taking some photos, she was overcome with emotion looking at the ballroom that brought the Christmas magic to real life! All we needed was a touch of snow and even though it was not in the forecast, it started snowing just in time for Emily to be transformed into a Disney Princess!
Now, we have shot in cold weather before and have had brides and grooms tough it out in the wind, but this was by far the coldest weather we have ever had for a couple. Emily was so brave and even though she was shaking and chattering, the show went on! As we were in Downtown Bay City and Emily was turning a light shade of purple from the cold, a Christmas miracle happened. A very nice man stepped outside of one of the buildings and said, “would you like to come inside to the apartments and get some pictures on the balcony?” We of course seized the opportunity for this amazing view, and heat, and before we knew it, we were being shown into the most gorgeous penthouse apartment any of us had ever seen! It looked as though we were transported to a Vogue magazine set and Emily and Nate looked like they fit right in!
When Emily finally regained a normal body temperature, the ceremony began and it was filled with joy and laughs as the congregation and the whole nativity scene looked on.
Then, the party began and we all enjoyed a gorgeous cranberry, pine, and Christmas themed reception that had some of the best dancing we have ever seen! Especially by the ring bearer and flower girl! These two stole the show at times with how absolutely adorable they were, and I was even lucky enough to earn a Skittle from the ring bearer! My heart just melted!
Emily and Nate’s day was truly the perfect way to end 2016. They are both surrounded with so many amazing people who love and care for them deeply and it is easy to see why. Emily glows with her personality. She fills up a room with her amazing smile and was so concerned with making sure every one was having a great time. Nate is so eager to make Emily happy and as Emily’s sister Megan summed up perfectly in her toast, is the “cute new football coach” who Emily knew she was going to marry one day!
Emily and Nate, we are so happy for you both! Thank you so much for letting us be a part of your special day! We know your marriage is going to be filled with laughter and love and it has been such a blessing to help tell your story!
